Editor's Comment: Despite the fact that the source of light is out of frame and is lighting the side of the subject away from the camera (note the shadow in right foreground produced by the light source) the subject remains well illuminated on the side nearest the camera.
However, the figure should be in shadow. Lunar rocks under such lighting conditions are in shadow and do not benefit from fill-in light. No extra lighting was taken to the Moon. Note also that the shadows of the astronaut's legs are thinner than his actual legs.
