Xavier Pascal 1953 - 2022

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Xavier Pascal at the age of 68 on February 4 this year at Châteauneuf-sur-Isère in France. Xavier was considered by those who knew him well to be a professional genius as well as an exceptional human being.

Having trained as an an Ingénieur informaticien (IT computer engineer) during his lifetime he became the executive responsible for the design, development and maintenance of computer applications and information technology in several companies. As such, he was required to have a knowledge of software and hardware design principles; a good foundation in electronics and telecommunication systems, he had to be technically proficient in programming languages, and skilled in SQL & database administration. (SQL – Structured Query Language – is a programming language used to manage relational databases.) He also found time to qualify as an aerospace engineer, no doubt leading to his close focus and assessment of the imagery and technical aspects of the Apollo missions – an interest he pursued over and above his professional work.

Xavier Pascal was reputed for his meticulous attention to detail and he applied these same standards to his studies and articles on the Apollo record – some of which were published on Aulis Online. His qualifications enabled him to not only to read and understand the technical documentation of the technology deployed in the Apollo space project, but to also create his own studies for his web pages on Angelfire.com, as well as the videos he made for his YouTube channel.

The ceremony of remembrance took place in France, on Friday February 11, 2022, at the Beaumont-les-Valence crematorium.

It was both a privilege and a pleasure for the editors at Aulis to work with Xavier – we will miss his energy and enthusiasm. We extend to his family and friends our sincere condolences at their loss.
